Rural women’s health | Cantos do Sabiá
João Lucas França – Broadcaster and communicator for the Sabiá Center.

May 28th was International Women’s Health Day. A date for reflection, remembrance and action. It’s a time to that women’s health matters.
When we bring this reflection to the countryside, we realize that the health of rural women still needs to be discussed a lot. They are the ones who face a heavy routine, working hard in the fields and still looking after the house, the family, all at the same time.
Often, these women don’t have access to a health center nearby, or to proper examinations or care. That’s why this date is a call for society to take a closer look at these realities and demand public policies that guarantee the right to health in an integral way, respecting the way of life and knowledge of these women.
What can be done? How can rural women’s health be guaranteed?
