What about environmental racism? | Real Food

João Lucas França – Broadcaster and communicator for the Sabiá Center.

How can cities like Recife live with racism and climate injustice? How can we act normally when the normal thing to do is to have more than 71,000 families without decent housing in Recife, when the common thing to do is to have 500,000 people living below the poverty line?

Today’s Comida de Verdade discusses the challenges of environmental racism in Recife. We’re going to look for solutions, paths – and struggles – to confront injustice. To act as a network to confront environmental racism.

What about environmental racism ? We need to look for collective solutions to confront such a constant evil. That’s why Comida de Verdade talks to Joice Paixão – a black, peripheral woman and solo mother. Social scientist, researcher, president of the Gris Association and creator of the Gera Network – Governance for Confronting Environmental Racism.
